Learn how to apply research-based best practices of professional development such as collaborative participation, active learning, coherence, and content focus to the development of effective online environments from the perspective of the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework which focuses on teaching, social, and cognitive presences. The presenters will provide specific examples of how these best practices have been applied to their courses and engage you in an exploration of how these theoretical constructs can be used to design your online course.

Aimee Morewood is an Associate Professor in the Literacy Education Program. She is currently focusing her research on effective online learning. Her other research interests include working with practicum students in online environments and examining theoretical frameworks that support student learning using online platforms.
