About Us

MISSION: The Teaching and Learning Commons provides academic support and resources to empower all who teach at WVU.  Our team uses an evidence-based approach that emphasizes creativity, collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation.  We work with campus partners to assist instructors in enhancing their teaching, both on campus and online, to deepen student learning and promote student success.

VALUE: By providing faculty professional development, pedagogical assistance, and other academic support services/resources to faculty, the TLC directly supports WVU’s accreditation efforts regarding the Higher Learning Commission’s Criterion 3 (Teaching and Learning: Quality, Resources and Support) and Criterion 4 (Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement). This activity ensures that the institution has the infrastructure in place to keep faculty adept in their teaching and to facilitate continuous improvement.
