Graduate Teaching Assistants

The Teaching and Learning Commons (TLC) is launching a new opportunity for all WVU GTAs—a cohort-based learning community on effective teaching practices based on the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) framework. The modules will cover a wide range of teaching-related topics. Whether you are new to teaching or proficient, you are sure to find value in these topics, which range from creating powerful learning outcomes and delivering an effective lecture to designing active-learning strategies and promoting higher-order thinking.

Successful participation in this learning community will allow you to earn a certificate in effective instruction from ACUE and the American Council on Education.

  • Who can apply:

    GTAs who will be teaching at least one course (lecture or online courses, not labs) during either the fall 2019 and spring 2020 semesters. Advisor approval should be obtained prior to taking on this commitment.

    2–3 hours per week plus monthly meetings
