Video Contest
The Teaching and Learning Commons is launching a contest to capture your voices on key teaching and learning issues! We're inviting faculty and instructors to provide short video responses (less than 2 minutes preferred) answering specific questions around teaching and learning during COVID-19.
Select videos will be shared on the TLC’s web site and social media channels. As a token of our appreciation, every entry will receive a small thank you from the Teaching and Learning Commons. Those who submit will also be entered into a drawing for a paperback book from the WVU Press Teaching and Learning in Higher Ed Series.
- What's your best secret to keeping students engaged? Why does it work for you?
- What specific communication tools and methods do you use in an online environment so that your students know what to do and when to do it?
- What learning activity got your students most excited this semester? Why do you think students like this activity?
- What specific techniques are you using to make your online class more interactive?
- What is your favorite tool that you are using? How is it helping your students learn?
- What types of assessment are you using that you have not used in the past?
- How are you establishing an environment where your students feel connected to you and their peers?
- Do you encourage students to show their video during live class sessions? Why or why not? If you do, how do you encourage it?
- How do you keep from feeling overwhelmed by all the tools that are available? How have you managed to avoid technology burnout?
- How do you make sure that the amount of content being delivered to students is adequate but not overwhelming?
- How are you dealing with the unexpected?
You can record your video in any way you wish. Please plan to submit the mp4 file, a link to the mp4 file, or a link to the video on WVU's Mediasite server so we can request a download.
We look forward to seeing your video submissions and sharing them to assist your fellow colleagues! Submissions deadline extended to December 15th.
